Less Expensive Pet Meds

less-expensive

For seven years I’ve been buying our monthly pet meds from the vet. The prices seem to be rising so I decided to search online for the best deals. There are so many options for less expensive pet meds. It’s important to look at the medication cost and shipping cost when finding the best deal! After some searching, I found two sites that offer great deals on both Frontline Plus and Heartgard.

  1. Pet Care Supplies – I was able to get 12 doses of Frontline Plus for small dogs for $89 total. Be sure to look for special discounts. Shipping is always free! At the vet, I paid $18o for 12 doses!!! This is a huge difference (it almost makes me sick). You might also look for rebates offered through Frontline.
  2. 1-800-PetMeds – I found a good deal on Heartgard on this website. They do require a prescription from the doctor. Your prescription can be authorized by phone call, fax, or mail. I was able to order 12 pack of Heartgard for $60.28 compared to the vet at $84.

If you are like me and you like to save money, check out these two sites for your pet care needs. I’m disappointed I waited so long…lesson learned!

Things Needed When Traveling with a Dog

IMG_5640

This weekend we are all headed to see my mom and dad in Ohio. When traveling with a dog, there are many things you need to remember to take with you. I started making a pile of all the things we will be taking for ABC. It is a good idea to make a list of things you take when traveling and then add to the list as you think of more needed things.

First of all. you need some type of bag to carry all their supplies. I happen to have this adorable bag from Thirty One. This bag is really a little small, but it works for almost all their supplies.

Here are the supplies we are taking this weekend:

  1. Our bag
  2. The dog crate
  3. Blankets
  4. Car seats
  5. Dry food and wet food
  6. Treats
  7. Hip & Joint supplements (medication)
  8. Bowls for food and water
  9. Dog leashes
  10. Doggie waste bags
  11. Dog toys
  12. Carpet cleaner in a spray bottle
  13. Paper towels

What else do you think I should take or what else would you take?

Devoted Doggy Deluxe Pet Booster Seat Review

Disclosure: I received this Devoted Doggy Deluxe Pet Booster Seat at a discounted rate for my honest review. Affiliate links are attached.

I absolutely love this pet booster seat. I could tell right away that this booster seat is heavy duty – the material, the straps, and the clasps/hooks. It is so easy to install, especially after adjusting the straps the first time. It is also extremely easy to fold down and store.

The seat can be used in the front seat or back seat of a vehicle. It allows dogs to safely look out the windows. It has a strap with a hook that can be attached to your dog’s harness.

The color is perfect – it is dark enough that it doesn’t show hair or dirt. If it does get dirty, the inner part can be removed and washed in your washing machine. The outer part can be cleaned with a cloth. The inner gray faux sheepskin is soft and probably warm in the winter months.

It has a front zippered pocket for storing small items.

I am so excited about this booster seat!!! My dog is safe, comfy and has a great view. Thank you to Devoted Doggy for allowing me to review and give my honest opinion about this seat. #petboosterseat

Lloyd & Lucy’s Pet Supplies Best Value Glucosamine Hip and Joint Supplement for Dogs

Disclosure: I received a free container of product from Lloyd & Lucy in return for my honest review. Affiliate links are attached.

Luxating Patella is a common condition in Yorkshire Terriers. Luxating Patella is when the knee cap pops out-of-place due to a misalignment of the knee. This can be an inherited condition or happen as a result of an injury. Two of my Yorkies were born with this condition. Patellar luxation is often divided into four grades of seriousness. Artie and Coby currently have low-grade issues. To help prevent the condition from getting worse, all three dogs are taking Glucosamine, which is a joint supplement. They have been taking it for just over a year as prescribed by our veterinarian.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to try Lloyd & Lucy’s Pet Supplies Best Value Glucosamine Hip and Joint Supplement for Dogs. This supplement contains high-quality ingredients such as Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin, MSM, Vitamin C and Manganese. The product facts and directions for use are listed below in the chart.

91DBjvhCgBL._SX522_There are a few things I like about Lloyd & Lucy’s supplements. First and most important, this supplement has made my life easier because my three Yorkies love the taste of the liver flavored tablets. They actually think it’s a treat!  There is no need to hide the tablets. After they eat, I give each dog a 1/2 tablet, just as directed. The tablets are scored, so they are easy to break in half with your hands. It’s really so simple!!

Second, these supplements are manufactured in the USA. Most recalls for dog treats, supplements, and food occur for products manufactured outside the USA. For this reason, I try to buy dog products that are proudly made in the USA.

Third, Lloyd & Lucy’s product is a great value at 180 chewable tablets per container. Even though I am giving these supplements to three dogs, they will still last 120 days (since my dogs only need 1/2 a tablet).

Lastly, the company is so confident that your dog will love the taste of their supplement that they offer a 100%, no questions asked, taste guarantee. Just let them know within the first 45 days, and they will refund your first bottle – NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Not many companies offer that kind of guarantee. So what do you have to lose…start your dog on Lloyd & Lucy’s Best Value Glucosamine Hip and Joint Supplements today!!!

Second Bark Box

Disclosure: ABC received a free Bark Box in exchange for this post. Affiliate links are attached.

Today we received our second Bark Box and ABC were just as excited this time. We all gathered around on the floor to open it and discover the fun things inside. There was lots of tail wagging and sniffing going on as I took each item out of the box.

In this Bark Box, we received four different types of treats, all of which were made in the USA. This is very important to me as most recalled treats are made in other countries. These treats are also all natural and grain free. ABC might not realize this, but they love the variety of flavors and different types of treats from soft to crunchy!!

We also received three toys in this box – two squeaker toys and one baby carrot and treat dispensing toy. One of the squeaker toys is called Carly the Bearded Lady and I personally think she’s a little scary (luckily the boys don’t know that). Unlike most squeaker toys, you shake this one to get it to make its noise.  I can tell that these toys are well made, durable, and will last a long time! The toys from our first Bark Box are still going strong!

Coby is a carrot lover so I was so excited to introduce him to the carrot dispensing toy. Just as I thought, it kept him busy and he enjoyed every bite of his carrot. This toy will be handy for an active puppy who enjoys chewing.

BarkBox Update

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.

Well, it’s been 13 days since we received our first BarkBox and I wanted to share how impressed I am with the quality of the toys. My dogs, especially Artie and Coby, are very determined to break open toys to get to the squeaker inside. After 13 days, that hasn’t happened with these toys AND the squeakers inside still work.

The toys after 13 days!!!!

Just before getting our BarkBox, I went to a local pet store and bought a toy. Within 2 hours, they had the toy broken opened, stuffing everywhere, and the squeaker broken. That’s not to say that all pet store toys are made cheaply, but you get what you pay for. If you buy an inexpensive toy, it’s not going to last long. If you pay a little more, the toy will last longer!

So, my point is, take a look at BarkBox and BarkShop. BarkBox is a monthly subscription. For more information see my June 21 blog post. BarkShop is an online store where you can buy the individual toys, treats, etc. The links to both BarkBox and BarkShop are below. Be sure to use my links to get discounts!
